Chapter 1
On the dark, wind-swept promontory of a tiny, nearly deserted island off the coast of Maine, a creature with yellow-stained fangs and eyes bright as fire stalks its prey. Silver rays from the full moon illuminate the creature’s massive head. A blood-curdling scream punctuates the snapping of neck bones. The victim whimpers a last time, and then dead silence except for the crashing of waves on the shore below.

It was a little weak. But I look for real horror not the romantic kind that is so prevalent these days.
Very interesting great but a cliffhanger. What happens to the son now that he has the amulat? I want to know.
I could not finish the book, it just does not hold your interest.
Shape shifters a-poppin'. Good story with sort of a cliff hanger ending. Hope the good guys appear in a follow up novel. Good read for a windy, rainy night.
Werewolf/vampire stories have been done over and over again, and usually better than this one.
Characters were flat, undeveloped.
It read like a high schooler's view of life and relationships.
I will not read from James Kearney again.
Not bad. But not great. The characters really needed more and there were grammatical errors and words that didn't make sense. I didn't mind the story... But so much more could have been done with it. A decent editor would have been good... But all in all an ok quick read.
Not what I expected but pleasantly surprised with content. First time reader of Kearney but will be looking for more of his books. Well written and thoughtful plot. Characters were so well written I could picture them and their surroundings vividly in my mind. Thank you, look forward to more of your books.
